In short

  • Amazon FBM Buy Shipping can protect qualifying US delivery claims when you buy the eligible label, ship on time as measured by the first carrier scan, and answer buyer inquiries within 48 hours. Printing a label on time does not establish an on-time scan.
  • Keep delivery protection, an A-to-z appeal and a SAFE-T reimbursement claim in separate queues: each has its own trigger and evidence.
  • The US SAFE-T filing window changed to 30 days on February 16, 2026. Old instructions using 60 days can cause you to miss the current window.
  • AirPost is a peer-to-peer fulfilment network: online shops have their orders packed and dropped at a parcel point by verified people near their customers, who earn a fee per parcel from home. No warehouse, no minimum order volume.

A buyer says the parcel never arrived. You have a shipping receipt and remember dropping it off, but the account shows a delivery-related claim. The useful response begins with records: where the label was bought, when the carrier first scanned the package, what the tracking shows and when you answered the buyer. A general assertion that you always ship promptly cannot connect those events. Build that connection before your next missing-package inquiry, while the evidence is easy to retrieve.

What does Amazon actually require for Buy Shipping protection?

The official US Buy Shipping page names the label purchase, timely first carrier scan and 48-hour Buyer-Seller Messaging response as conditions for A-to-z delivery-claim protection. Its SAFE-T reimbursement note names Buy Shipping purchase and timely first scan. Those statements describe eligibility conditions, not automatic approval of every refund. Read the claim category and the protection shown on your actual order.

Amazon’s FBM shipping guide distinguishes services carrying OTDR Protected and Claims Protected badges from choices without the same coverage. Inspect the option you select instead of assuming every service in a familiar carrier list has identical protection. Save the purchase confirmation. When someone else buys labels, specify the required purchase route and what they should do if an eligible option is unavailable.

Protection for a delivery problem does not settle whether you sent the correct item. A tracking event can establish movement while the contents remain wrong. Keep the customer’s complaint in its original category and investigate both questions if necessary. If you send a replacement, connect its separate shipment to the original order without overwriting the first parcel’s history. Otherwise you lose the evidence needed to explain what happened to each box.

Official Amazon US guidance checked October 14, 2026. Eligibility and the notice on the individual claim still matter.

Use a queue with an owner and a due date for each type. The person packing might be well placed to collect acceptance evidence but unable to answer an account-level claim. The customer-service person might see the message immediately but have no access to the carrier receipt. Agree how those records move between them. One inbox can contain several deadlines; a single “shipping issue” label is too broad to manage them reliably.

Why is the first scan different from buying the label?

A purchase proves you created postage. An acceptance event connects that postage to a parcel entering the carrier network. Preserve both, including the time zone used by the source. If you hand over a batch, check the tracking history of the affected package rather than relying only on the total number collected. A manifest is useful supporting evidence, but the Buy Shipping eligibility condition cited above specifically refers to the first carrier scan.

Before the cutoff, inspect parcels that have labels but no handover evidence. Is the box still waiting for a missing item? Did the pickup arrive early? Was the label placed on another package? Those causes need different repairs. Contact the carrier about a real scan problem and retain its response. Do not substitute a guessed shipment time for the carrier’s recorded event or promise a buyer that an unscanned parcel is already moving.

For an outside packing arrangement, require the packer to send the order reference and carrier receipt together. A photograph of a pile of boxes cannot identify the specific disputed shipment. Make retrieval simple: the seller should be able to find the label transaction, acceptance evidence and item record from the marketplace order number. Use a shared process that preserves original timestamps rather than copying dates into a fresh document after the complaint.

What changed about US SAFE-T claims in 2026?

Amazon’s February 16, 2026 announcement reduced the US seller-fulfilled SAFE-T filing window from 60 to 30 days. For returns, its start is the later of the warehouse return-delivery scan and the refund date. For lost shipments, it starts from the last scan event. Update any internal reminder that still assumes the old window.

An illustrative return timeline shows why you need two dates. Suppose the refund occurs October 5 and the carrier records return delivery October 12. The announcement’s later-event rule uses October 12, not the date you first read the customer’s complaint. Save both records and check the deadline displayed for the claim. This is a hypothetical illustration of the trigger, not a statement that the example order qualifies for reimbursement.

Inspect a returned item promptly enough to assemble evidence before filing. Keep the return identifier, condition photographs and the original product information together. Separate factual observations from conclusions: “the returned serial number differs from the shipped serial number” is more useful when both records are supplied. A general accusation of buyer abuse adds little without evidence connected to the transaction. Keep legitimate refunds moving through the required customer-service process while evaluating reimbursement separately.

How should you appeal an A-to-z decision?

Amazon’s US A-to-z guidance gives 30 calendar days to appeal a claim granted to the customer, supply new information and request further investigation. An appeal is distinct from a SAFE-T filing. Start with the decision you want reviewed, then state the specific evidence that was missing or misinterpreted. Do not submit an unrelated return inspection as the sole answer to a delivery question.

  1. Identify the disputed decision

Record the order and claim identifiers, the decision date and the stated reason. Check the available appeal action in Seller Central.

  2. Build a short event sequence

Connect the label purchase, carrier acceptance, delivery events and buyer correspondence. Preserve source timestamps and attach or reference evidence through the permitted workflow.

  3. Explain the new information

Show how the supporting record changes the issue under review. Keep the explanation specific to this package and this decision.

  4. Track the response

Assign someone to check the case for requests and the final outcome. Retain the submitted version so later correspondence is consistent.

When the evidence shows a genuine operational failure, fix that failure alongside the customer resolution. A successful appeal on one incorrectly assessed order would not repair a missed daily pickup. Conversely, improving tomorrow’s dispatch process does not explain yesterday’s wrongly matched tracking number. Treat the historic claim and the next shipment as related but separate jobs, with a clear owner for each.

How should you compare an outside label price with protection?

On October 14, 2026, AirPost’s US domestic page displayed small-parcel USPS Ground Advantage from approximately $7.78, including the platform fee. Sender compensation is additional; USD display is indicative and the exact shipment needs a live quote.

Five hypothetical labels at that displayed starting amount give 5 × $7.78 = $38.90 before sender compensation and packaging. That calculation supplies a budget reference for ordinary packing and transport. It supplies no Amazon Buy Shipping price and no expected claim reimbursement. Put the eligible Amazon quote beside it, then compare both cost and the documented protection conditions. Do not invent a loss probability to justify choosing either workflow.

AirPost connects shops with people who hold stock, pack orders and hand them to carriers. Its copy documents Shopify automation. If you want to use that physical arrangement for Amazon orders, establish the eligible label route, order intake and confirmation responsibilities first. The seller page explains the stock-and-packing model. The first-order guide can help you rehearse the handover before it becomes a claim-evidence problem.

Frequently asked questions

Does Amazon Buy Shipping cover every missing-package refund?

Review the actual claim, label badges and eligibility conditions. Buying postage alone does not establish every requirement or guarantee a reimbursement decision.

Is printing an Amazon shipping label proof I shipped on time?

Keep the purchase record, but also check the carrier acceptance history. A printed label can exist while the parcel is still at your packing location.

Can I use a different broker’s USPS label and claim Buy Shipping protection?

A shared carrier name does not establish an Amazon Buy Shipping transaction. Confirm the route through which the eligible label was purchased.

Should I file SAFE-T or appeal an A-to-z claim?

Start with the event and decision involved. A reimbursement request and an appeal of a granted customer claim are separate procedures; check eligibility for the relevant one.

What should my packing partner save for a delivery dispute?

Ask for the marketplace order reference, label purchase record and package-specific handover evidence. Add tracking history and original customer correspondence to the seller’s case record.
