Amazon FBM UK: business-hour delivery requirements

Check the 2026 UK FBM delivery rules, business-hour performance and handling-time changes, with a separate diagnosis for dispatch and late delivery.

In short

  • Amazon’s UK FBM target is at least 90% business-hour delivery for Amazon Business customers from 30 September 2026. Its policy allows deactivation for those customers when performance stays below 80% and does not improve within 30 days of a warning, with enforcement starting from 30 October.
  • UK account-level default handling time now has 0-day and 1-day options, while longer handling can still be set per SKU.
  • Check business-hour delivery, on-time delivery and shipment confirmation separately: improving one does not automatically fix the others.
  • The current UK announcement gives a specific exclusion when Automated Handling Time, Shipping Settings Automation and Buy Shipping are all used.
  • AirPost is a peer-to-peer fulfilment network: online shops have their orders packed and dropped at a parcel point by verified people near their customers, who earn a fee per parcel from home. No warehouse, no minimum order volume.

A parcel can reach a business address on the promised day and still arrive after reception has closed. It can also leave your premises promptly while its shipment confirmation reaches Amazon too late. Those are different failures, with different evidence and remedies. For a UK seller fulfilling orders from its own stock, the 2026 changes make that distinction worth checking at order level. Start with the performance report for the affected metric, then follow the parcel’s actual route instead of changing every shipping setting at once.

What changes on 30 October 2026?

The official UK FBM announcement says the business-hour delivery requirement began on 30 September. It measures deliveries to Amazon Business customers within their operating hours. Amazon says that, from 30 October, listings which remain below the requirement may be deactivated for business customers. At this article’s check date, 14 October 2026, that enforcement date is still ahead. The announcement points sellers to Account Health for the metric.

The changed UK policy distinguishes the target from enforcement: it describes deactivation for business customers when the score is consistently below 80% and fails to improve within thirty days of a warning. Sellers with fewer than twenty shipped units in the fourteen-day measurement period are exempt. Business hours follow the customer’s account preferences; without preferences, the default is Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm local time. Inspect your report before concluding which requirement applies to your orders.

Ask the carrier how the selected service handles the business address and its delivery constraints. Moving collection earlier does not prove arrival during opening hours, and changing transit time does not correct an incomplete address. Write the affected offer and specific failure beside the proposed correction, then check whether the intervention addresses that failure.

How is business-hour delivery different from OTDR?

Amazon’s UK On-Time Delivery Rate policy measures tracked seller-fulfilled units delivered by the seller-promised Deliver by date. It requires a minimum 90% OTDR and recommends 95% or higher. Its calculation uses a rolling fourteen-day period, considering promised dates in the previous twenty-one days while excluding the most recent seven. That exclusion allows for parcels still travelling. The report therefore cannot be read as a direct summary of today’s dispatches.

Separate operational questions; use each metric’s own report and reporting period.

The OTDR policy also says to allow seventy-two hours for updates or edits to appear in the report and metrics. Keep the version of the report you reviewed, the underlying evidence and the date of a correction. Repeatedly changing settings before the reporting window updates can make the investigation harder. You may then have several configurations but no clear explanation of which one applied to the order. Track the change against a named problem and check the report again at an appropriate time.

Which handling-time settings should UK sellers review?

The July change affects the account-level default rather than removing every longer handling option. Amazon’s announcement says a two-day default changes to one day, while longer times can still be specified per SKU. It also describes Automated Handling Time being enabled from September for SKUs whose setting remains at least one day longer than actual performance for over thirty days. Check which setting is active for each affected offer. A note in an old spreadsheet does not establish the live handling time.

Separate stocked products from products requiring additional preparation. For the first group, measure the ordinary work between receiving a usable order and handing over the finished parcel. For the second, list the preparation that must happen before packing can begin. Then check the applicable SKU settings and any programme-specific conditions. Do not shorten every product’s time because your most convenient SKU leaves quickly. A setting shared across products with different preparation needs can hide exactly the exception that later causes a missed promise.

Check the collection arrangement alongside the handling setting. Someone may finish packing after the last usable handover even though the work itself took little time. Record the relationship between order availability, preparation and collection. If stock is held at another location, use that location’s real working pattern. Your office opening hours do not describe the external packer’s dispatch day. The setting needs to represent the operation responsible for the parcel, including the point when the transport service actually receives it.

Does using Buy Shipping alone provide an exclusion?

The UK announcement names a combination of three tools: Automated Handling Time, Shipping Settings Automation and Amazon Buy Shipping. It says orders fulfilled using all three will not count towards the business-hour delivery requirement. Using just one is not the combination described. Before relying on the exclusion, check that each tool was actually used for the relevant order. Do not infer it from the account having an automation option available or from a label bearing a familiar carrier name.

If an integration purchases labels, establish exactly what it does. Does it purchase the Amazon label for that order, apply the selected settings and return the correct confirmation? A workflow for your independent webshop may use a different label route and data connection. Keep those routes identifiable. The provider’s general statement that it supports a carrier does not explain whether the required Amazon tools were involved. Document the order path so that an account-health question can be answered with an actual transaction rather than a software feature list.

What evidence should you request from an external packer?

  1. Identify the order

Keep the Amazon order reference, SKU, quantity and assigned stock location together. Establish who owns each record.

  2. Record the dispatch commitment

Save the expected dispatch and delivery dates applying to that order. Avoid replacing the original promise with a later internal plan.

  3. Connect label and handover

Match the carrier service and tracking identifier to the actual parcel. Retain handover evidence separately from label creation.

  4. Inspect the delivery event

Check the valid scan and the relevant destination. For a business-hour issue, investigate the recipient’s operating-hour context.

  5. Correct the responsible step

Change stock preparation, collection, data transfer or the selected delivery arrangement according to the evidence. Retain the reason for the change.

Avoid asking the packer for a general assurance that all parcels went out. Ask for the record connected to the affected order. A correct parcel can be paired with the wrong tracking identifier when labels are printed in a batch. Conversely, a correct identifier can exist while the parcel remains on a shelf. Check the content and the transport evidence independently. This is especially useful when the person working on orders is different from the person who answers Amazon account-health questions.

Where does the cost of reliable packing appear?

For ordinary outsourced work, an AirPost example using constants checked on 14 October 2026 separates €0.85 for the platform and €2.25 as the recommended small-parcel packing payment. These total €3.10 before the carrier charge and materials. The packing payment is agreed with the sender. This euro example prices separate work; it is not a UK carrier quote, a business-hour delivery guarantee or proof that the three Amazon tools are used.

Use the example to check the scope you are paying for. Does the agreed task include selecting the right stock, completing the packaging and making the required handover? If the receiver needs a specific delivery arrangement, investigate and price that transport separately. AirPost’s copy describes local senders and a Shopify connection. It does not confirm an Amazon integration for your orders. Establish that connection and the applicable performance process before treating any normal webshop fulfilment arrangement as suitable for your Amazon offers.

What should you do with a warning today?

Read the warning and its linked report before changing your catalogue. Note the affected metric, offers, period and requested next step. Then inspect a reported order using the records above. The purpose is to discover whether the failure comes from your promise, the physical work, the transport or the data supplied. Keep changes small enough to explain. If a specific recipient cannot be served with the selected route, resolve that constraint before continuing to promise the same result.

Do not borrow an enforcement timeline from another Amazon marketplace. The UK announcement and UK policies are the sources for the dates discussed here. Also keep ordinary FBM performance separate from Seller Fulfilled Prime eligibility. A metric meeting the ordinary minimum does not, by itself, enrol your products in Prime. You can investigate your business-hour delivery issue while separately assessing whether a different programme fits your products. The order evidence is useful for both decisions, but the programme rules must remain identifiable.

Frequently asked questions

Do UK FBM business-hour rules apply to consumer deliveries?

The requirement discussed here measures shipments to Amazon Business customers within their operating hours. Use the relevant report; ordinary consumer deliveries still have their other applicable performance checks.

Can a parcel be on time but outside business hours?

Yes. Arrival by the promised day and arrival while the recipient is open answer different questions. Investigate the delivery event and each metric separately.

Can I still set more than one day of handling?

Amazon’s UK announcement retains longer handling settings per SKU. Review the setting that actually applies to the affected product rather than relying on the account default.

Is Buy Shipping alone enough for the stated exclusion?

The announcement describes orders using Buy Shipping together with Automated Handling Time and Shipping Settings Automation. Verify all three for the relevant order.

Why has an OTDR correction not appeared immediately?

The UK OTDR policy allows seventy-two hours for report and metric updates. Retain the correction evidence and use the metric’s own reporting period when comparing versions.

For a physical handover rehearsal, read the first order without a warehouse. Use local fulfilment in Europe to discuss ordinary stock and packing arrangements alongside the separate Amazon requirements.
