In short
- Compare crowdshipping companies by the job they take off your hands: these 4 examples cover existing-trip delivery, US on-demand delivery, local courier dispatch and stock-based fulfilment. A provider collecting a prepared order is not automatically a provider that stores and packs your products.
- Shopopop’s French terms specify 30 kg per product unit, 90 litres for the total delivery announcement and a 2 m × 1 m unit/container size limit.
- Roadie distinguishes contracted business sizing from consumer limits; Stuart’s guidance makes the retailer responsible for selecting the right vehicle.
- AirPost’s sender packs shop-owned stock and drops parcels at a parcel point, with carrier transport priced separately from the preparation task.
- AirPost is a peer-to-peer fulfilment network: online shops have their orders packed and dropped at a parcel point by verified people near their customers, who earn a fee per parcel from home. No warehouse, no minimum order volume.
A list of company names cannot tell you whether your florist’s ready bouquet, a bulky retail collection and a shelf of ecommerce stock need the same service. They do not start in the same condition. Before you ask who is cheapest, decide whether you need someone to move an order, prepare it, or do both through separate stages.
This comparison uses public provider documents checked on 19 October 2026. It places services next to each other because shops encounter them while researching crowdshipping, not because they share one business model or operate everywhere. Country pages, contracts and the actual dispatch address take priority over a category label.
Which company starts where your own team stops?
| Service and context | Starting point to verify | Relevant job | Question before requesting a quote |
|---|---|---|---|
| Shopopop: French cotransportage terms | A purchase from a partner store | An individual delivers during a personal journey | Does the whole basket fit the local terms and available slot? |
| Roadie: US business delivery | Items at the stated collection address | Match the delivery to an appropriate vehicle | Which contracted business sizing applies to this item? |
| Stuart: local courier service | A prepared order at the pickup address | Dispatch the suitable local transport type | Do origin, destination, size and vehicle fit the service zone? |
| AirPost: peer-to-peer fulfilment | Shop-owned stock agreed with a sender | Accept, print, pack and drop at a parcel point | Who holds which stock, and what packing fee and carrier option are agreed? |
A store with staff already picking orders may want only the next journey. A shop whose owner still packs everything needs a preparation solution as well. Keep these starting points visible in your purchasing notes. Otherwise, the quote that excludes the most work can appear to be the best value.
What does Shopopop’s basket limit actually refer to?
Shopopop’s French terms separate a unit’s weight, the announcement’s total volume and the size of an individual product or container. They specify a maximum unit weight of 30 kg, a total volume of 90 litres per announcement and a maximum unit/container size of 2 m × 1 m. The full order size must be supplied. Do not reduce those different measurements to one vague statement that a parcel can be large.
That distinction matters for a basket of several items. Each product might pass a unit-weight rule while the whole purchase exceeds the volume condition. Packing the same products in a larger protective container can change the information you need to declare. Measure the actual handover, including whatever the person must carry, rather than relying on catalogue dimensions.
There is also a market-language trap. The English retailer page advertises orders up to 90 kg or 2 metres in its specialist-retailer section. That is not the same wording as the French terms. Ask which local agreement and product apply to your basket; do not substitute an English marketing maximum for the French contractual measures. This comparison quotes the French terms explicitly so you can see the scope.
Why should a retailer avoid Roadie’s consumer limit?
Roadie’s vehicle-sizing guide has five Gig-size options. It marks its sizing chart as applicable to business senders contracted with Roadie and separately states consumer restrictions of 200 pounds and 12 feet in any dimension. As a merchant, establish your contract category before copying a limit into your dispatch process. A rule for an individual consumer is not evidence of your negotiated business capability.
The same guide describes bulk upload of as many as 300 deliveries through a CSV template. That can be relevant if your shop needs to transfer an existing dispatch list without building a custom connection. It describes order entry, however, not a commitment that every uploaded delivery will be matched simultaneously or that your store can stop preparing the items.
Use the guide to ask better operational questions. Which size represents your complete item? Is handling equipment needed? Who is ready at collection? Does your agreement cover the goods and packaging condition? Roadie is a US delivery example here. Its presence in an English comparison does not make it a domestic delivery option for a UK shop.
What changes when Stuart needs a different vehicle?
Stuart’s heavy-order help article says it is the client’s responsibility to order the correct vehicle. Its stated procedure for an oversized or overweight order is to seek cancellation and relaunch with a more suitable transport type where possible, or contact support with evidence so the work can be split. This is a preparation decision for the retailer, not something the rider should have to discover on arrival.
The article lists a thermal-bag weight limit of 8 kg and a backpack limit of 12 kg for the relevant bike, moped and motorbike work. Its large categories require car, cargo bike or van transport. Check the specific local service and equipment rather than reading a broad package category as permission for any rider to carry the same weight.
Stuart’s developer guidance also says maximum delivery distance varies with package size, zone and country. A postcode being inside the network does not settle every size-and-distance combination. Give the provider both addresses and the finished order specification. If you need delivery slots, confirm the slot for that combination before your checkout offers it to the buyer.
Where does AirPost fit if your products are still on your shelf?
AirPost fits a different handover. Your shop agrees with a sender, sends a batch of products and packaging, and retains ownership of the stock. The sender accepts incoming orders, prints labels, packs and drops parcels off. You can discuss the work through the platform. The sender’s role is preparation and carrier handover, rather than replacing the selected parcel carrier with a private door-to-door ride.
For the cost boundary, AirPost’s constants checked on 19 October 2026 recommend €2.25 for small-parcel preparation. Adding the €0.85 platform fee gives €3.10. The corresponding medium-parcel sum is €3.85, a difference of €0.75 before transport. Actual sender fees are agreed; these are reference calculations.
Keep the carrier label, inbound stock delivery, materials and any separately agreed work outside those sums until you have real amounts. They are not all-in rival delivery quotes. You can use AirPost local fulfilment to explore that arrangement, and the fulfilment comparison without a minimum when the question is whether to move preparation out of your shop at all.
What should the same quote request contain for every provider?
Name the handover condition
State whether the order is already packed or whether the provider must hold products, pick the sale and prepare a parcel. Include the exact origin and destination context.
Describe the complete basket
Supply finished dimensions, weight, item count and any handling needs. Ask which local terms and vehicle category accept it.
Ask for an exception answer
Confirm what happens when a task is not accepted, the item does not fit, collection fails or the buyer is unavailable. Ask what is charged in each applicable case.
Compare only confirmed scope
Keep transport, preparation and other charges visible. Save the quote date and terms, then test the actual handover before extending your checkout promise.
A practical shortlist can be short. Remove a provider when it does not accept your location, goods or starting condition. You do not need to invent a price score for a service that cannot perform the required task. For a trial, record the collection or acceptance event, the final handover and the support answer to any exception. Those observations are more useful than comparing unrelated headline maxima.
Frequently asked questions
Which crowdshipping company is best for an online shop?
There is no single winner across these different jobs. Start with location, goods and whether you need transport alone or stock-based packing. Compare a written quote only after the supplier confirms that scope.
Are crowdshipping companies the same as fulfilment companies?
Some delivery services start with a ready order. A fulfilment arrangement starts earlier, with products that still need to be picked and packed. Ask where the provider’s responsibility begins.
Does a company’s largest advertised item size apply to every country?
Do not assume so. Shopopop’s English marketing and French terms use different measures, while Stuart explicitly links delivery distance to package size, zone and country.
Can I use Roadie as a UK domestic courier from this comparison?
Roadie is included as a US business-service example. Confirm any provider’s actual origin coverage; an English website and a company name in a list do not establish a UK collection service.
Is the AirPost preparation example a complete delivery price?
No. It combines recommended preparation and the platform fee. Add the actual carrier label and other applicable costs, and agree the sender’s fee before comparing complete order economics.
