In short
- Evri was the cheapest of the four on 29 September 2026: £7.26 for a small UK parcel, against £7.34 for Yodel (InPost) and £8.28 for UPS, all including our platform fee. UPS was the fastest at 2 working days, one day ahead of Evri and two ahead of Yodel.
- Yodel and InPost are one company: InPost UK bought Yodel in April 2025, and on our rate card Yodel books a service called "InPost Collection". The real choice is between three networks, not four.
- For a medium parcel up to 10 kg the order holds but the gaps widen: Evri £7.62, Yodel (InPost) £9.00, UPS £9.42.
- Of the four, only UPS takes large parcels from 10 to 30 kg, at £36.58. DPD does the same for £20.15.
- Royal Mail is not on our domestic UK rate card, so we have no measured price for it. Its parcel arm Parcelforce is, from £11.53.
- AirPost is a peer-to-peer fulfilment network: online shops have their orders packed and dropped at a parcel point by verified people near their customers, who earn a fee per parcel from home. No warehouse, no minimum order volume.
Most comparisons of UK couriers are written for people sending one parcel to a relative. This one is for a shop that sends the same kind of parcel every day, and wants to know which carrier to make the default for each product. The prices are our own, measured on one day, for the same sizes.
Which UK courier is cheapest in 2026?
On 29 September 2026 our shipping options from the UK listed seven domestic carriers. The prices below include our €0.85 platform fee, converted from euros at the ECB daily rate, and are for delivery to the door anywhere in the UK.
| Carrier | Small (≤ 5 kg) | Medium (≤ 10 kg) | Large (10–30 kg) | Transit | Hand-over |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Evri | £7.26 | £7.62 | — | 3 working days | Courier collects |
| Yodel (InPost) | £7.34 | £9.00 | — | 4 working days | Courier collects |
| UPS | £8.28 | £9.42 | £36.58 | 2 working days | Drop-off (large: collection) |
| FedEx | £10.10 | £10.10 | — | 3 working days | Courier collects |
| DHL eCommerce UK | £11.29 | £12.54 | — | 2 working days | Courier collects |
| Parcelforce | £11.53 | £11.58 | — | 3 working days | Drop-off |
| DPD | £12.76 | £12.76 | £20.15 | 2 working days | Courier collects |
The spread is large for such a small country: the most expensive small parcel, DPD at £12.76, cost £5.50 more than the cheapest. The three budget networks sit within about a pound of each other; the premium carriers start around £10.
Are Yodel and InPost the same company?
Yes. InPost UK acquired Yodel in April 2025, and from 17 July 2025 Yodel moved fully under the InPost brand, as one service for home, locker and shop deliveries. InPost said the deal lifts its UK market share to about 8%, with a combined network of more than 18,000 out-of-home points.
On our rate card this shows up as a Yodel entry whose service is called "InPost Collection": the courier collects from the packer and delivers to the customer’s door within 4 working days. If you have been comparing "Yodel vs InPost" as two options, it is now one price and one network.
Evri is merging too
The UK competition authority cleared the merger of Evri and DHL eCommerce UK on 4 September 2025. DHL’s UK e-commerce network is being renamed "Evri Premium – a network of DHL". On our card both still appear separately, at £7.26 (Evri) and £11.29 (DHL eCommerce UK) for a small parcel.
Evri vs Yodel (InPost): which is better for a small shop?
On price, Evri wins both sizes: 8p cheaper for a small parcel and £1.38 cheaper for a medium one. On speed, Evri also wins by a day: 3 working days against 4. Both collect from the packer, both deliver to the door, and neither takes parcels over 10 kg on our card.
That leaves one reason to choose Yodel (InPost) over Evri: your customers. InPost says it has passed 16,000 lockers in the UK, and a customer who already uses them may prefer that brand on the tracking email. On the numbers alone, Evri is the default for small, light parcels.
Is UPS worth the extra pound?
UPS costs £1.02 more than Evri for a small parcel and £1.80 more for a medium one. For that you get delivery in 2 working days instead of 3, cover up to £50 listed on our card, and a large-parcel service that Evri and Yodel (InPost) do not offer.
- Pay for UPS when the order is urgent, when the item is worth more than a budget carrier’s standard cover, or when the parcel is over 10 kg.
- Stay with Evri for everyday small parcels where a day does not matter to the customer.
- Look at DPD for large parcels: £20.15 for 10 to 30 kg, against £36.58 with UPS, both at 2 working days.
One practical difference: the UPS small and medium services on our card are drop-off. Your packer takes the parcel to a UPS counter. Evri, Yodel (InPost), FedEx, DHL eCommerce UK and DPD collect instead, on the day printed on the label.
Why is Royal Mail not in this comparison?
Because it is not on our domestic UK rate card today, and we only publish prices we measured ourselves. Ofcom still describes Royal Mail as the main provider of single-piece parcels for consumers, especially up to 2 kg; for business-to-consumer parcels it competes with Evri, DHL, Yodel and DPD.
Two related services are on our card. Parcelforce Express 48, a drop-off service at £11.53 for a small parcel and 3 working days; Ofcom notes that Parcelforce was merged into the Royal Mail delivery network from 11 August 2025. And Royal Mail International Tracked appears for parcels leaving the UK, not for domestic ones.
Which UK courier should you pick for each parcel?
| Your parcel | Default | Price (29 Sep 2026) | Why |
|---|---|---|---|
| Small, low value, not urgent | Evri | £7.26 | Cheapest small parcel; 3 working days |
| Medium, up to 10 kg | Evri | £7.62 | Cheapest medium; next cheapest is £9.00 |
| Urgent small or medium | UPS | £8.28 / £9.42 | Cheapest 2-day service on the card |
| Large, 10–30 kg | DPD | £20.15 | Cheapest large; UPS is £36.58 |
| Customer asks for InPost | Yodel (InPost) | £7.34 / £9.00 | Same network as the lockers |

What does a parcel cost you in total with AirPost?
With local fulfilment through AirPost, a verified person in the UK holds a batch of your stock and ships each order as a UK domestic parcel. You pay the label, the fee you agree with your sender and our €0.85 platform fee. The prices in this article already include the platform fee, so a small Evri parcel is £7.26 plus the sender’s fee. We suggest €2.25 for a small parcel; each sender sets their own.
