How to integrate Stallion Express with Shopify orders in Canada

Connect Shopify to Stallion, import unfulfilled orders and verify tracking sync, parcel presets and checkout-rate settings before automating dispatch.

In short

  • Connect your Shopify store through Stallion’s Settings → Integrations → Stores → Add Store, authorize the correct shop and verify 1 genuine unfulfilled order from import through tracking sync. Then set that store’s auto-import and fulfillment options deliberately: Stallion’s auto-fulfillment can mark the order fulfilled when you buy a label, before the parcel is physically handed over.
  • Importing an order, purchasing postage and showing live rates at checkout are separate functions. Test each function you intend to use.
  • Current Shopify carrier-calculated shipping eligibility differs from wording in older integration PDFs. Check the current plan documentation before changing your subscription.
  • A missing fulfillment update is a sync problem to investigate; it is not, by itself, a reason to buy another label.
  • AirPost is a peer-to-peer fulfilment network: online shops have their orders packed and dropped at a parcel point by verified people near their customers, who earn a fee per parcel from home. No warehouse, no minimum order volume.

Connecting a Canadian Shopify store to Stallion can remove repeated address entry, but the dispatch process still needs clear ownership. A connected order is not a packed parcel, and a fulfilled status is not proof of a carrier scan. Set up the connection around an order you actually need to ship, with its real package and chosen service. The steps below use official Stallion and Shopify documentation checked on 14 October 2026.

Where do I connect the correct Shopify store?

Stallion’s current store-connection guide gives two entry points: Setup → Connect Store, or Settings → Integrations → Stores → Add Store. Shopify uses an OAuth redirect, where you authorize the connection in Shopify. Have administrative access and make sure your browser is signed in to the intended shop before beginning. The guide specifically warns about authorizing the wrong store when you manage several.

After authorization, check that the connected-store list shows the shop you intended to add. Keep the store name with your dispatch notes, especially when one Stallion account serves more than one storefront. Do not judge the connection by the success message alone. The meaningful check is whether a known order from that shop appears with the right buyer, items and order identifier.

Older instructions may show another menu or an app-installation screen. Prefer the current connection guide and the screen in your account. If authorization fails, review the active shop, access rights and whether the integration was removed on Shopify’s side. Reconnecting the intended store is more useful than repeatedly importing orders from an account you accidentally authorized.

How do unfulfilled orders become shipments?

The store-import guide says imported unfulfilled orders appear in Orders, where you can convert them into draft shipments. For a manual import, it documents Orders → Imports, choosing the store and clicking Import Orders. It says changed existing orders update in place. Auto-import instead polls on a schedule configured for each store.

  1. Import an order you recognize

Choose a genuine paid order awaiting dispatch. Check the store identifier, recipient address, items and quantities against Shopify before creating its shipment.

  2. Create the draft shipment

Convert the imported order into a shipment and inspect the prefilled information. Resolve any customer address edit before purchasing postage.

  3. Add the finished package

Enter packed weight and outside dimensions, using a preset only when the sealed parcel matches it. Check units and any required customs information.

  4. Choose the service and purchase

Select an eligible rate, save the shipment reference and purchase one label for that parcel. Confirm the printed label matches the order and box.

  5. Check sync and handoff separately

Verify fulfillment and tracking in Shopify, then confirm the parcel is actually dropped off or collected. Keep evidence of the physical handover with the shipment.

Auto-import does not replace a deliberate historic-order check. Stallion says it pulls orders forward rather than backfilling old ones; its guide recommends manual import with an extended date range for historical orders. If you cannot find an older order, review that distinction before entering its address manually. A duplicate manual shipment can become hard to distinguish from the original imported order.

When will Shopify mark the order as fulfilled?

Stallion’s store settings and fulfillment guide says each connected store has independent settings. With Auto-fulfill on label purchase enabled, buying a label sends a fulfillment request and tracking number back to the store. Decide whether that timing fits your operation. If you print ahead of dispatch, your customer can see a fulfillment update while the box is still waiting at your packing station.

Keep the customer message consistent with that event. Avoid describing a label-purchase update as proof that the package has entered the carrier network. The tracking page may initially show only shipment information. Your team should be able to identify whether the package is waiting to be packed, labeled and ready, handed over or moving through the delivery network. A single fulfilled status does not cover all those stages.

Agree which tool controls the fulfillment update. If someone buys postage through Stallion and then separately marks the same entire order fulfilled in Shopify without checking the first update, the record can become confusing. For an order split across parcels, verify the items and quantities attached to each fulfillment. A tracking reference should describe the parcel carrying those items, not merely any label associated with the customer.

Is live Stallion pricing at checkout enabled by the same connection?

Stallion’s current import and store-settings pages describe support for live Shopify checkout rates when enabled. That does not mean importing orders automatically turns on calculated checkout pricing. Review the required configuration separately. Your customer-facing shipping method needs the correct destination coverage and parcel inputs, while the dispatch integration needs order import and fulfillment permissions.

The current Shopify plan-availability table lists third-party carrier-calculated shipping as included on Advanced and Plus, and available on Grow through an extra monthly fee or annual billing. It lists other plans as unavailable. This supersedes the broad language about lower plans in older Stallion integration PDFs. Check the current requirement before paying for a plan change.

Shopify’s calculated-shipping overview also distinguishes backup rates from ordinary flat rates. Backup rates appear when calculated rates fail and no other eligible rate exists; an eligible flat rate remains selectable even when calculated rates work. Check the buyer’s available methods for the destinations you serve, rather than assuming a flat method is only an emergency fallback.

FunctionWhat success looks likeWhat it does not establish
Store authorizationThe intended Shopify store appears connectedThat every open order has imported
Order importCorrect address, items and order ID appear in StallionThat packed measurements are accurate
Label purchaseA valid label exists for the selected shipmentThat the carrier physically holds the parcel
Fulfillment syncCorrect items and tracking appear in ShopifyThat all other boxes in a split order are dispatched
Checkout rate calculationAn eligible buyer sees the intended rate and methodThat it is enabled solely by connecting the store
Use these separate checkpoints when testing the integration. Each answers a different dispatch question.

What should I do if the label exists but Shopify has no tracking?

Check the shipment first. Stallion’s fulfillment guide documents Retry Fulfillment from an individual shipment and from a batch. It lists disconnected integration, changed permissions and an already fulfilled or cancelled Shopify order as reasons a retry may fail. Retry the status update for the existing shipment before considering another postage purchase. Preserve the shipment ID and store name if support needs to investigate.

Shopify’s tracking documentation says third-party fulfillment tracking depends on the service. It permits manual carrier selection or a full tracking URL if the carrier is not recognized. Confirm that the link opens the right shipment, rather than merely checking that a number appears. Keep any manual repair consistent with the integration’s later sync so the customer does not receive conflicting references.

Do not purchase a second label just to make an unfulfilled badge disappear. You could create another payable shipment without correcting the sync problem. Compare the first purchase, Shopify’s fulfillment state and the parcel waiting for handoff. If you cancel or replace a label for another reason, verify the provider’s cancellation result and the tracking left on the store order before closing the task.

How should I budget an order that needs more than one parcel?

Use a separate cost line for each parcel. As a transparent arithmetic reference, AirPost’s Canada domestic page showed small-format transport from approximately C$13.70 and medium-format transport from C$15.85 on 14 October 2026. Adding those two displayed minima gives C$29.55. That is a planning reference for separate small and medium labels, not a route-specific quote or a Stallion price.

AirPost’s platform fee is included in each displayed transport amount, while the agreed sender fee comes separately; CAD is approximate and settlement is in euros. The seller workflow allows inventory to be kept with a sender who packs and drops off orders. If you are comparing that arrangement with packing yourself through Stallion, record each parcel and preparation charge individually. A Shopify order total does not tell you how many transport purchases it requires.

Use shipping cost per order to organize the expense categories, filling them with your own Canadian quotes. To assess the printing step, label-printer selection offers a useful actual-PDF test; its UK product and price context does not establish Canadian supply or service availability. Test the file and device used at your own station before enabling bulk printing.

Frequently asked questions

How do I connect Stallion Express to Shopify?

Use Setup → Connect Store or Settings → Integrations → Stores → Add Store in Stallion, choose Shopify and authorize the intended store. Confirm that shop appears in the connected list before importing orders.

Why are older Shopify orders not appearing in Stallion?

Check the import filters and date range. Stallion says auto-import pulls new orders forward rather than backfilling historic ones; use manual import with the appropriate extended range for older orders.

Does Stallion mark Shopify orders fulfilled automatically?

It can when the store’s Auto-fulfill on label purchase setting is enabled. That update happens at label purchase, so verify physical handoff separately.

Do I need Shopify Advanced to import orders?

Do not confuse order import with third-party carrier-calculated rates at checkout. The cited Shopify plan requirement concerns calculated checkout shipping; verify your intended integration functions separately.

Should I buy another label if tracking did not sync?

First inspect the existing shipment and use the documented fulfillment retry where appropriate. A missing status update does not prove the original label purchase failed.
