In short
- Parcel2Go’s UK page displayed starting prices of £1.99 excluding VAT and £2.39 including VAT for selected collection-point services without parcel protection, checked on 10 October 2026. Your checkout total depends on the actual service, parcel details and options you select.
- Compare the VAT-inclusive price for the same customer receipt method, rather than rank the lowest number beside each carrier logo.
- Protection choices can change the total; check both the included allowance and whether your goods qualify.
- Incorrect packed weight or dimensions can lead to a later additional charge, separate from the options chosen at checkout.
- AirPost is a peer-to-peer fulfilment network: online shops have their orders packed and dropped at a parcel point by verified people near their customers, who earn a fee per parcel from home. No warehouse, no minimum order volume.
A starting price is useful for finding a service to investigate. It is less useful as a postage budget for every order in your shop. Parcel2Go’s UK page combines introductory prices, individual service cards, VAT figures and protection choices. Read those together before deciding that one booking is cheaper than another. This guide uses official pages retrieved on 10 October 2026 and separates advertised starting figures from a quote entered for a real parcel.
Why can a £1.99 price become £2.39 before extras?
The UK page labels its headline starting price as excluding VAT. Its service cards also show the corresponding inclusive amount. On the retrieval date, the InPost Locker to Locker and Evri ParcelShop to ParcelShop cards each displayed £1.99 excluding VAT alongside £2.39 including VAT without protection. Those two figures describe different presentations of the starting charge, not two delivery upgrades. Use the inclusive amount when comparing what the booking asks you to pay.
If you assess costs before recoverable VAT for your own business accounts, compare providers on that same basis and retain the proper invoice. Do not compare one provider’s exclusive figure against another’s inclusive one. This article does not decide your tax treatment. The practical pricing check is to copy the provider’s displayed VAT status into your comparison, so a lower-looking headline does not conceal a difference in presentation.
What did the actual UK service cards show?
| Parcel2Go service card | Starting price without protection, incl. VAT | Starting price with stated protection, incl. VAT |
|---|---|---|
| InPost Locker to Locker | £2.39 | £2.45 with £20 protection |
| Evri ParcelShop to ParcelShop | £2.39 | £2.43 with £20 protection |
| Evri ParcelShop Postable | £2.70 | £2.76 with £20 protection |
| Evri ParcelShop | £2.98 | £3.04 with £25 protection |
The page’s introductory wording and FAQ can use broader starting-price claims than the individual cards. For example, the Postable card displayed £2.70 including VAT without protection when checked. Do not assign the page’s £1.99 headline to every Postable parcel. Read the selected service card and continue with the actual parcel details. If two sections disagree, use the completed quote and booking conditions rather than choosing whichever sentence contains the lower amount.
Treat this table as a way to understand the comparison, not a promise that your order will receive any of these prices. Save the final service name, total and retrieval date after entering the finished parcel. A general UK page cannot establish availability for every origin, destination or carton. Your pricing spreadsheet needs the quote for the order you can actually dispatch.
Are you paying for the same delivery route?
Locker to Locker requires the customer to collect at the receiving locker. ParcelShop to ParcelShop also describes a collection-point route. Those are different purchases from delivery to a customer’s address. The cheaper starting card is only a useful alternative if the buyer accepts its receipt method. Make customer collection visible at checkout and use the point-selection process supported by the booking, rather than enter a parcel shop’s street address as an ordinary recipient.
Sender-side drop-off is a separate issue. Parcel2Go’s Evri ParcelShop service page describes handing over at an outlet instead of waiting for a home collection. A service name containing ParcelShop therefore needs to be read in full: it might describe handover or both ends of the journey. For the practical handover distinction, see Evri ParcelShop versus collection. That choice should be consistent across the quotes you compare.
Write your comparison around the customer promise: eligible home delivery, or eligible point collection, with the same relevant speed and protection requirement. Then compare sender handover and the final charge. A lower point-collection price does not establish that a provider is cheaper for the home-delivery order you originally intended. It establishes that another delivery arrangement may have a lower starting rate.
How does parcel protection change the price?
On the cards above, selecting the displayed protection changed the starting inclusive price by £0.06 for InPost Locker to Locker, £0.04 for Evri ParcelShop to ParcelShop and £0.06 for the Evri ParcelShop example. These are differences between those particular published starting options. They are not a universal protection tariff, and the selected allowances differ. Read the actual protection step for your item and declared value before comparing the final totals.
A service card offering a protection amount does not establish that all contents are covered. Parcel2Go’s UK page directs senders to check item eligibility. Distinguish permission to send an item from permission to claim for loss or damage. If a product is excluded from compensation, increasing the declared value does not by itself resolve that exclusion. Keep the product description and relevant packaging requirements with the purchase record.
Use the same protection requirement in competing quotes. Comparing one unprotected starting price with another purchase containing the protection you need produces an unhelpful winner. Conversely, do not add an extra allowance just because it is preselected or prominently offered. Read what the chosen booking already includes, what the additional option changes and whether your product qualifies. Make the decision before recording the total as your normal postage cost.
Can a charge appear after the parcel has been sent?
Parcel2Go’s surcharge information says quotes rely on the details supplied during booking. A difference between declared and measured weight or size can create an additional charge; unsuitable packaging or additional handling can also matter. This is separate from voluntarily selecting protection at checkout. A final checkout payment does not make an incorrectly declared parcel eligible for the purchased service.
Keep evidence of the actual packed parcel. For an illustrative order containing 1.85 kg of goods and 0.25 kg of packaging, declare 2.10 kg rather than the product-only weight. Record the outside dimensions and take clear photographs showing the sealed carton and measurements. Reusing a saved parcel profile can help with repeat orders, but only when the new basket and packaging still match that profile.
Do not copy a dimensional-weight divisor from one courier into every Parcel2Go booking. The platform lists different carrier services, and the applicable measurement rules belong to the selected one. The existing dimensional-weight calculation guide explains why service-specific checks matter. Here, the useful action is to supply complete measurements and read the purchased service’s conditions, rather than create a second generic calculator.
What should you do if the declared size was wrong?
Before dispatch, use Parcel2Go’s support route for the purchase. Its help page advises cancelling and rebooking when the weight or dimensions entered are incorrect, with Live Help involved. Follow that process instead of editing a printed label yourself or assuming a verbal note at the counter changes the booking. Keep the order connected to the final valid tracking reference, especially if replacement postage is bought.
If an underpayment charge has already been issued and you have evidence to dispute it, the same official page directs you to its dispute form. Gather the original declared details, final packed measurements, photographs and booking reference. Ask for the relevant measurement evidence and use the specified process. Do not guess a fixed surcharge amount or promise that a dispute will succeed; the facts of the purchased service and parcel determine the case.
How can you compare Parcel2Go with AirPost fairly?
Parcel2Go prices concern a delivery booking. The AirPost local fulfilment page describes finding a sender who holds a small stock batch, packs orders and hands parcels over near your customers. Compare postage with postage first, then account for the work somebody must do. A delivery starting price cannot, by itself, establish the cost of storing, preparing and dispatching your webshop orders.
| AirPost UK-to-UK service | Format shown on the rate page | Displayed label and platform rate |
|---|---|---|
| InPost Economy Shop to Home, under Yodel | 35 × 25 × 15 cm, up to 5 kg | Approximately £6.03 |
| Evri ParcelShop, home delivery | 35 × 25 × 15 cm, up to 5 kg | Approximately £6.18 |
| InPost Lockers to Home | 35 × 25 × 15 cm, up to 5 kg | Approximately £6.75 |
These are address-delivery services with specified AirPost formats, so they should not be ranked directly against Parcel2Go’s lowest locker-to-locker card. AirPost’s displayed rates include its platform fee of €0.85. Its recommended small-parcel sender compensation is €2.25, with the actual amount agreed with the sender. The rate page says payment is in euros; keep its approximate pound display separate from euro-denominated fees.
What belongs in your final postage comparison?
- Use one sealed parcel and the same origin and destination for each quote.
- Match customer receipt, delivery service, sender handover and eligible protection.
- Record the inclusive payable total and any separately agreed preparation cost.
- Save the service conditions and purchase reference before dispatch.
Repeat the comparison when a bundle changes the carton or a customer chooses another receipt method. Use the resulting quote to set that order’s charge. A saved headline rate is a starting point for checking, while a properly specified booking gives you a cost you can assess.
Frequently asked questions
Are Parcel2Go’s headline prices including VAT?
The UK page headline checked on 10 October 2026 explicitly excluded VAT. Its service cards also displayed inclusive figures. Read the VAT label beside the selected price before comparing providers.
Does £1.99 apply to every Evri parcel on Parcel2Go?
No. It is a published starting figure for selected options, not a universal parcel rate. The Evri ParcelShop Postable card displayed £2.70 including VAT without protection on the retrieval date.
Why does adding protection produce a different total?
Protection is a booking choice that can add to the displayed charge. The amount and eligible contents depend on the selected service and allowance; use the final option for your own item.
Can Parcel2Go charge more for incorrect measurements?
Its official surcharge information says differences between declared and actual weight or size can create an additional charge. Measure the finished parcel and retain evidence of those measurements.
Does the AirPost rate already include packing?
The cited shipping-options rates include label and platform costs. The sender’s agreed compensation comes separately. Confirm the full arrangement instead of treating a carrier rate as a complete fulfilment price.
