In short

  • On 10 October 2026, AirPost’s UK-to-Switzerland page listed a small parcel with Evri at ≈ £21.82 and a 10-working-day estimate, versus DPD at ≈ £22.87 and 4 working days. Both displayed amounts include the platform fee; packing and Swiss import costs remain separate.
  • The medium format changed the comparison: DPD kept the same displayed price while Evri became more expensive.
  • Complete the carrier’s electronic customs data and required documents before handover; a product sold by a UK shop is not automatically UK-origin.
  • Check the Swiss clearance arrangement separately, including who pays the import invoice.
  • AirPost is a peer-to-peer fulfilment network: online shops have their orders packed and dropped at a parcel point by verified people near their customers, who earn a fee per parcel from home. No warehouse, no minimum order volume.

For a UK webshop, the useful question is which service fits the actual Swiss order. A national postage headline cannot answer that. A finished box, a named service and a workable handover can. This guide compares the checked route before discussing the information that must travel with the goods. It concerns stock physically dispatched from a UK sender; a shop based in Britain with its stock elsewhere needs a quote from that other origin.

Which UK-to-Switzerland options were actually listed?

Listed serviceSmall formatMedium formatListed transit estimate
Evri Standard Parcelshop≈ £21.82≈ £24.2210 working days
DPD Drop Off Europe≈ £22.87≈ £22.874 working days
UPS Standard – drop off≈ £26.19≈ £35.126 working days
Royal Mail International Tracked Heavier≈ £40.64≈ £59.754 working days
Selected services from AirPost’s GB → CH shipping-options page, retrieved 10 October 2026. Small: up to 5 kg, 35 × 25 × 15 cm. Medium: up to 10 kg, 45 × 35 × 30 cm. Home delivery; platform fee of €0.85 included. GBP displays are approximate; payment is in euros. Sender fees and Swiss import charges are separate.

The route heading explicitly said United Kingdom to Switzerland, and the named international services were present. That matters because a selector alone is weaker evidence than a route showing usable services. Check the heading and service list again with your own parcel before booking. The page also listed other services; this table selects four comparable drop-off options rather than reproducing every carrier or claiming a permanent ranking.

Treat the listed days as transit indications. They do not promise that an order placed tonight will reach the customer that many days from tonight. Packing, the trip to the drop-off point and any clearance queries sit around the carrier journey. Give the customer a dispatch expectation that your sender can meet, then use the selected service’s conditions for the delivery estimate. Do not sell the shortest row as guaranteed arrival.

Is the cheapest small-parcel row the best choice?

The displayed DPD premium over Evri was ≈ £1.05, while the listed estimates differed by six working days. For an order whose timing matters, that is a specific comparison worth checking. It does not establish that DPD fits every item or address. Ask whether the contents are accepted and whether your sender can use the booked drop-off arrangement before selecting it solely from these figures.

In the medium format the displayed Evri amount was ≈ £1.35 above DPD, with the same respective estimates. The small-format price ranking therefore cannot be applied to the next format. Quote the final package after adding protection. If a second product changes its dimensions, repeating last week’s service choice may cost more even though the weight still looks modest.

Keep customer receipt and sender handover separate. “Drop off” describes how the sender gives the parcel to the carrier; these rows listed delivery to the customer’s home. A drop-off name does not mean the Swiss customer must collect the parcel. Establish the accepted posting point for the booked label and check its opening hours before promising a dispatch date. If the sender cannot reach it, compare an available collection service using the same finished box.

Why is the pound amount approximate?

The checked page states that local-currency figures use the ECB daily exchange rate and that payment is in euros. These pound amounts are therefore a dated display observation. Keep the euro purchase amount from your booking in your cost records, together with the date. Avoid promising a permanent sterling label price based on this table: a later currency display or service price can differ.

For your shop’s margin calculation, bring the product revenue, packing cost, sender fee and label into the same accounting currency using your recorded method. Keep any Swiss-franc import charge separate until you know who pays it. Otherwise a visually cheap pound quote can be compared against an unrelated euro subtotal and appear to save money it does not save. The platform fee is already in these route amounts; adding it again would also inflate the comparison.

What customs information should a UK shop prepare?

Royal Mail’s Postal Customs Hub requires complete customs details for goods sent overseas, including descriptions, item values, tariff codes and origin information. Its gift category applies to exchanges between private individuals. A customer purchase needs the appropriate sale category. Follow the requirements of the particular service you book; the hub describes specified Royal Mail products, rather than every courier’s paperwork.

InformationUseful shop recordMistake to avoid
ContentsSpecific product description linked to the order lineCalling every item “accessory”
Value and quantityThe actual item values and quantities for the saleUsing the parcel price as an item value
OriginThe product’s substantiated manufacturing originTreating the seller’s office as the product’s origin
Shipping and partiesThe booked costs and complete sender and recipient detailsCopying an old address or an arbitrary postage amount
Organise the sale information before opening the booking. Required fields and document presentation still depend on the selected service.

For a shop selling several variants, link the description to the item actually picked. An order for a cotton shirt should not inherit a generic record from a different fabric or product. Review the sale after any substitution or price change before releasing the parcel. Your packer can check that the box matches the order; the shop remains responsible for supplying the correct commercial details. Do not leave the packer to invent a code or value at the counter.

Are printed customs papers enough?

Royal Mail’s electronic-data guidance covers shipments to Switzerland and explains that parcel information is transmitted in advance. A printed declaration and electronic submission serve different parts of the process. Use the selected booking flow to supply the data, and present the physical documents that service requires. A form placed inside the box is not evidence that the advance data reached the carrier.

Before handover, keep the label reference with the order and check the document instructions. If another person is packing, send a clear instruction about which pages to print and where to attach them. Do not mix the documents for two similar customer orders on one packing table. Check the recipient and parcel reference immediately before sealing the paperwork wallet. This short check is easier than tracing a declaration attached to the wrong box after dispatch.

What might the Swiss customer pay separately?

BAZG explains that the carrier handles the import declaration and can charge its own clearance costs. Swiss Post lists CHF 16 as its basic fee for non-EU origins, versus CHF 13 for EU origins, plus a value-based supplement and applicable extras. These figures exclude VAT. A UK-origin shipment falls in the other-origin category under that published split if Swiss Post is the relevant clearer; another courier needs its own tariff.

Swiss Post’s supplement is 3% of its specified value basis. Do not attach that charge to every table row. Ask the booked carrier which clearance arrangement applies and who pays. Switzerland’s abolition of industrial tariffs does not abolish the declaration or other taxes. State the confirmed payment arrangement in your checkout information and keep it with the order, so the recipient knows whether another bill can follow.

For the broader explanation of why transport and the import bill are separate, use the existing Switzerland guide. Its EU-origin quotes do not price this UK route. If a customer reports a charge, request the invoice rather than infer its contents from a tracking status. The clearing carrier can explain its service lines; the shop should explain what its own checkout collected.

How can a UK shop arrange packing through AirPost?

On AirPost you can agree for a sender to hold your stock, pack customer orders and hand them over. The webshop fulfilment page explains the model. Select a UK dispatch location for this route, agree the packing fee and handover schedule, and supply the customs-ready product details. The person doing the work needs a practical posting arrangement, not just the cheapest carrier name.

Start with a batch you can account for and confirm that the sender has space for the agreed products and packaging. Recheck the service when a parcel moves into another format. Use DPD UK drop-off versus collection for the handover decision; it does not replace the specific Switzerland quote. Plan a return address and evidence trail as well, so an undelivered parcel remains linked to its original order.

Frequently asked questions

Which checked small-parcel option had the lowest displayed price?

Evri Standard Parcelshop showed ≈ £21.82 on 10 October 2026, with a 10-working-day indication. Recheck the available services and conditions for your actual order.

Was DPD more expensive for the medium format?

No. In the checked medium format, DPD’s displayed amount was below Evri’s. Compare the packed format rather than carrying over a ranking from the small format.

Do I pay AirPost in pounds?

The route page says payment is in euros. Its pound display is an approximate conversion at the ECB daily rate; record the amount shown for the actual purchase.

Can I declare a webshop sale as a gift?

Royal Mail’s guidance reserves the gift category for private-to-private exchanges. Use the correct category and actual product information for your customer sale.

Does the quote include the Swiss import bill?

The route amounts include the platform fee, while the sender fee and import charges are separate. Establish the clearance tariff and payer for the selected service.
