In short
- The carrier-only index retrieved on 8 October 2026 lists €7.28 for domestic Finnish parcels at 2 kg, 5 kg and 10 kg. The equal amounts are index observations, not a guarantee that every box or delivery method costs the same.
- The index excludes the platform fee and local preparation; add each on the correct basis.
- A larger format can change the sender’s fee even when the carrier-only amount is unchanged.
- Check packed dimensions and recipient collection versus home delivery before quoting an order.
- AirPost is a peer-to-peer fulfilment network: online shops have their orders packed and dropped at a parcel point by verified people near their customers, who earn a fee per parcel from home. No warehouse, no minimum order volume.
Three identical numbers can make a shipping budget look easier than it is. The Finnish index has that pattern at the weights examined here, but the final order still has a box size, a recipient method and someone preparing it. This guide separates those inputs for small shops. It concerns parcels starting in Finland, rather than every parcel sent to Finland from abroad. The local fulfilment page explains how a sender holding an agreed batch of your stock can create that domestic origin.
What does the Finnish weight table show?
| Domestic weight point | Carrier-only index | With platform fee, calculated |
|---|---|---|
| 2 kg | €7.28 | €8.13 |
| 5 kg | €7.28 | €8.13 |
| 10 kg | €7.28 | €8.13 |
The index chooses the cheapest listed standard carrier amount for the stated country and weight. It does not identify the carrier behind each minimum or certify every box with that weight. Treat it as a comparison input. The equality across the rows tells you that those three checked points have the same minimum amount, not that size limits disappear or that every Finnish carrier has adopted one universal tariff.
Use a consistent fee basis. Here the carrier amounts all come from the index without platform costs. The actual shipping options page publishes amounts with the platform fee already included. When you later use that page for a real order, do not add the platform fee twice. The service-page features in this guide explain formats and recipient methods; their numeric prices are not mixed into this table.
Does equal pricing make a 10 kg box equivalent to 2 kg?
No. A heavier or bulkier parcel can require a different accepted format. Protection, several products and a larger outer carton can change its dimensions even when the product weight looks manageable. Weigh and measure the finished parcel. Do not remove necessary protection to preserve a price from the table. The carrier needs a package it accepts, and the sender needs a package they can prepare and hand over safely.
The checked Finnish small-parcel examples use a maximum box of 35 × 25 × 15 cm and weight up to 5 kg. The medium examples use 45 × 35 × 30 cm and weight up to 10 kg. Those are the listed platform formats for these examples, not a claim about every retail service sold by each carrier. Confirm the current format attached to the option you book. Weight alone cannot tell you which of the two boxes your order needs.
Can the total change when the carrier amount does not?
| Illustrated accepted format | Reference preparation | Carrier, platform and preparation subtotal |
|---|---|---|
| Small parcel | €2.25 | €10.38 |
| Medium parcel | €3.00 | €11.13 |
This is why a weight-only postage table does not describe the complete fulfilment price. The person preparing a larger parcel can agree a different fee for its handling. Several products may need more checks, more protection and another carrying method. The reference fees provide an illustration, not a measured Finnish average or an instruction to classify every light box as small. Use the format the sender accepts and the rate you actually agree.
For an entirely hypothetical batch of 20 parcels, these format subtotals become €207.60 for the small example and €222.60 for the medium example. Both totals exclude inbound stock transport, extra materials and other costs. The quantity is arithmetic, not a forecast of Finnish orders. Do not turn available capacity or an enquiry into confirmed monthly demand when setting your budget.
Does the cheapest index amount mean delivery to the door?
No. Finland’s checked options include DSV point delivery, Posti services and Matkahuolto services with different recipient methods. A cheapest country amount does not tell you which method applies. Pickup and home delivery must be described clearly to the customer. A small letterbox service is also not interchangeable with a carton simply because both fall near a weight you recognise. Check the actual size and method of the selected option.
The sender’s handover and the recipient’s collection are separate parts of the route. Verify where the sender can post the booked service and which point the recipient can select when collection is offered. Do not assume all lockers or parcel counters accept every carrier label. If home delivery is part of your customer promise, choose a service that explicitly provides it instead of using a pickup minimum as its price estimate.
Can you combine products to use fewer labels?
You can test a real basket combination if it fits the accepted format and can be packed safely. Several units in one order may use one outgoing parcel, while separate orders can require separate labels. Keep that distinction in your forecast. The table does not prove that combining always reduces complete costs: a bigger box, another preparation fee or different protection can change the result. Use the actual basket rather than assuming every product combination fits the same small format.
Make the packing instructions explicit for multi-item orders. A sender needs to know quantities, variants and whether a packing slip belongs inside. Record where protection is necessary and what happens when the required box is unavailable. A clear combined-order method can avoid errors; simply telling someone to “use one box” may create a parcel that fits neither the intended format nor the products’ needs. Review a first real example before making the arrangement routine.
What else belongs in the Finnish cost model?
If you use local stock, include the actual shipment that brings it to Finland and a plan for unused goods. Allocate that transport across realistic outgoing orders, not every unit as though it had already sold. Supply packaging or make a separate purchase arrangement with the sender. Compare complete direct-shipping costs if that is your alternative. A domestic subtotal does not include your own administration or establish that holding another stock location is always the better financial choice.
For the broader stock-location decision, read shipping to Finland without a Finnish warehouse. Use current quotes for your actual comparison rather than assuming any historical example is a booking. A price check and a partnership check serve different purposes: the first establishes a usable service, while the second establishes who will receive products and prepare orders. You need both before a domestic label amount becomes part of your operating plan.
What should you confirm for the next order?
- Use the finished weight and dimensions, including protection and the outer box.
- Confirm the parcel starts in Finland and use the real recipient details.
- Choose pickup, letterbox or home delivery according to the actual service.
- Check the sender’s accepted format, fee and workable handover route.
- Use the booking amount’s stated inclusions before adding any separate preparation charge.
Frequently asked questions
Do 2, 5 and 10 kg cost the same in Finland?
The checked carrier-only index gives the same minimum at those three points. This does not promise equal costs for every format, carrier, destination or recipient delivery method.
Does a 10 kg parcel use the small preparation fee?
Not simply because of the index amount. Use the accepted format and actual fee. The checked small examples have a different size and weight limit from the medium examples.
Is the index amount a home-delivery price?
The country minimum does not identify the service or recipient method. Check a bookable option that explicitly matches pickup or home delivery before promising it.
Can I add the platform fee to a service-page quote?
The published shipping option already includes it. Add it only when starting from a carrier-only source such as the index; otherwise you count it twice.
