In short

  • For a small parcel to a pickup point, DPD was cheaper than InPost: zł 14.49 (≈€3.32) to a DPD Pickup point or locker against zł 17.46 (≈€4.00) to an InPost Paczkomat, measured on 29 September 2026. To the door it flips: InPost’s courier cost zł 18.38 (≈€4.21), DPD zł 24.31 (≈€5.57).
  • The gap between point and door is small at InPost (zł 0.92) and large at DPD (zł 9.82). So DPD is the cheap choice for lockers, InPost the cheap choice for the door among the two.
  • InPost has the bigger locker network: more than 28,000 Paczkomat machines in Poland, against 12,000 DPD Pickup lockers plus 21,000 DPD Pickup points (both carriers’ own figures).
  • Poczta Polska sat in between on every line (zł 14.89 point, zł 15.37 door) and is the cheapest door option we measured.
  • With a sender in Poland who holds your stock, every order is a domestic parcel at these rates instead of a cross-border one.
  • AirPost is a peer-to-peer fulfilment network: online shops have their orders packed and dropped at a parcel point by verified people near their customers, who earn a fee per parcel from home. No warehouse, no minimum order volume.

If you sell to Polish customers, you will be asked the same question at every checkout redesign: InPost or DPD? Polish shoppers know both, both deliver next day on the domestic network, and both offer a locker. The answer depends on whether your customer collects or waits at home — because the two carriers price those two directions in opposite ways.

Below: what each cost on 29 September 2026 for the same parcel, what the size and network limits are, and a simple rule for which one to make your default.

Is InPost or DPD cheaper in Poland?

These are domestic prices from our own shipping options for Poland, measured on 29 September 2026. They include our flat platform fee, which is the same for every carrier, so the differences are the carriers’. Our rate card shows złoty; the euro amounts are converted at the ECB reference rate of that day (€1 = zł 4.3653).

Measured on 29 September 2026, domestic, small parcel 35 × 25 × 15 cm and medium parcel 45 × 35 × 30 cm. Delivery is the time shown on our rate card. Prices change; live figures are on /en/shipping-options.

Three things stand out. First, DPD’s locker price is the lowest of the four big names for a small parcel. Second, DPD’s door price is the highest in the table by a wide margin — zł 9.82 more than its own point service. Third, InPost barely charges extra for the door: zł 0.92 on a small parcel, zł 2.14 on a medium one.

For context: without our fee, the cheapest domestic 2 kg carrier rate in Poland in our European shipping rates index is €2.35, against €13.25 for the same box sent from the Netherlands. Whichever of the two carriers you choose, a domestic Polish parcel is a fraction of a cross-border one.

Paczkomat or DPD Pickup: what is the difference?

Both carriers sell a “point” service that can end in a shop or in a machine. The customer picks the exact location. What differs is how many there are and what fits.

Note the size detail. Our small parcel (35 × 25 × 15 cm) is 15 cm high, so at InPost it does not fit size A (8 cm) and goes into a B compartment. That is fine — B takes it — but if your product is flat, like clothing in a mailer, it is worth packing it under 8 cm: the locker has more A compartments and a flat parcel is easier to place.

The network difference is the other half of the decision. InPost has more than twice as many lockers as DPD, so for a given customer a Paczkomat is simply more likely to be the machine around the corner. That is the case for offering InPost at checkout even when DPD is your cheaper default: the customer picks the locker they actually pass.

When is home delivery worth paying for in Poland?

Poland is a locker country: collecting from a machine is normal and many customers prefer it to waiting for a courier. The door is not the default expectation there, so you pay for it only when there is a reason.

  • Bulky or heavy items. Anything above 41 cm high or 25 kg does not fit an InPost locker; at DPD the limit is 20 kg. Large parcels go to the door anyway — our rate card only lists DPD for the 10–30 kg size in Poland (zł 28.42 to the door).
  • Expensive items. A courier handover is harder to dispute than a locker collection. For a high-value order, the extra złoty for the door are small insurance.
  • Customers who asked for it. If the customer chose courier delivery at checkout, ship it that way. Here InPost’s small premium makes it the obvious pick.

The cheapest door is not DPD

If you want home delivery by default, DPD is the expensive choice: zł 24.31 for a small parcel. InPost’s courier (zł 18.38) and Poczta Polska (zł 15.37) were both cheaper on 29 September 2026, with the same next-day time on our rate card.

What about Poczta Polska and ORLEN Paczka?

Two other networks are on our rate card for Poland and deserve a look before you settle on InPost or DPD.

Poczta Polska was the most even-priced: zł 14.89 to a point and zł 15.37 to the door for a small parcel, and the medium size cost the same to a point. It is the cheapest home delivery we measured and within zł 0.40 of DPD’s locker price. Your sender can also ask Poczta Polska to collect parcels from their address.

ORLEN Paczka delivers to lockers and points at ORLEN fuel stations and partner shops: 14,000 pickup points, 7,000 of them lockers, according to ORLEN Paczka itself (September 2025). At zł 15.67 for a small parcel it sits between DPD and InPost; our rate card shows no door service and no delivery time for it.

Which should be your default?

  • Small, low-value parcels to a locker: DPD Pickup for the lowest price, InPost Paczkomat where coverage in small towns matters more than zł 2.97.
  • Home delivery: InPost courier or Poczta Polska. Both beat DPD’s door price by roughly zł 6 to zł 9 on a small parcel.
  • Offer InPost at checkout even if DPD is your default: Polish customers look for the Paczkomat option.
  • DPD to the door as a default. It is the most expensive line in the table.
  • Lockers for anything over 20–25 kg or taller than a size C compartment.

The pattern is the same one we found across Europe in pickup point vs home delivery: where the point is the national habit, it is also where the carriers price it lowest. How this works with AirPost

With local fulfilment through AirPost, a verified person in Poland holds a batch of your stock and ships each order as a domestic parcel with InPost, DPD, Poczta Polska or ORLEN Paczka. You pay the label, the fee you agree with your sender, and our €0.85 platform fee per parcel — no subscription, no storage costs.

  1. Find a sender in Poland

On /en/senders. Every sender’s identity and payout account are checked before they get stock or orders. Check that they offer the carriers and parcel sizes you need.

  2. Pick a default per product

Choose a default shipping method per product and country — for example DPD Pickup for small items and InPost courier for anything bulky. We look for the cheapest rate within the service level you choose.

  3. Choose the locker with the order

When you create an order to a point, you pick the locker or point near the delivery address. If a Shopify customer chose a pickup point at checkout, AirPost does not pass that on yet: create that order manually with the same point.

  4. Your sender packs and drops off

The sender only sees the full address once they take the order. They pack it, drop it at a point or locker, and tracking reaches you in the same conversation — and goes back to Shopify when the order came from there.
