In short

  • For a Slovak GLS locker order, your packed parcel must pass 2 checks: the purchased service’s size and weight limits, and the destination locker’s compartment limit. AirPost’s domestic options checked on 10 October 2026 show small parcels up to 5 kg and medium parcels up to 10 kg; a carrier’s broader parcel limit does not extend those bookings.
  • GLS’s March 2026 terms distinguish its own lockers from third-party lockers, with different maximum box dimensions and collection periods.
  • The observed GLS pickup and home-delivery prices match within each AirPost format, so pickup is a customer choice rather than an automatic label saving.
  • Measure the finished box, keep the selected pickup location with the order, and use the deadline in the arrival notification.
  • AirPost is a peer-to-peer fulfilment network: online shops have their orders packed and dropped at a parcel point by verified people near their customers, who earn a fee per parcel from home. No warehouse, no minimum order volume.

A light product can become an unsuitable locker parcel once its protective packaging is added. That matters for shops sending orders to Slovakia: a carrier may transport large boxes generally, while the exact purchased service and recipient locker impose tighter conditions. Start with the finished package and the supported delivery choice. This guide uses the live Slovak domestic options and GLS’s published terms, checked on 10 October 2026, to keep those conditions separate.

Which dimensions apply to GLS lockers in Slovakia?

Section 8 of GLS Slovakia’s March 2026 terms gives these maximum parcel dimensions: 51 × 42 × 39 cm for a GLS locker and 57 × 43 × 33 cm for a third-party locker. Those are carrier limits for the stated locker types. They are not dimensions for every available compartment, and they do not replace the dimensions of the shipping product you actually buy.

GLS’s general English FAQ also publishes a different, broader locker-size description. Because those pages do not align, use the dated terms as the reference for this article and confirm the actual destination before booking a borderline box. Do not combine the longest side from one description with the widest side from another. A parcel must fit one supported configuration, with adequate packaging still in place.

Rotation can help you compare the three sides, but it is not a reason to ignore the product’s handling needs. Record all outer dimensions after sealing the box. A protective sleeve, protruding flap or bulging wall belongs in that measurement. Leave a practical margin rather than assuming a compartment whose nominal maximum matches your box exactly will be available and usable for the shipment.

What limits appear on AirPost’s Slovak domestic options?

Quoted GLS Business-Parcel formatMaximum outer dimensionsMaximum weightPickup or home label amount
Small parcel35 × 25 × 15 cm5 kg€6.35
Medium parcel45 × 35 × 30 cm10 kg€7.19
Slovakia-to-Slovakia shipping options retrieved 10 October 2026. Each amount includes the platform fee and excludes the separately agreed sender preparation charge. Pickup and home-delivery entries showed the same amount within each format.

The service-format limits are tighter than the largest carrier locker dimensions described above. A box that fits the largest compartment can therefore still exceed the AirPost booking you selected. Treat the weight and dimensions in the offered service as conditions of that label. Do not buy a small label for a larger packed box because GLS also publishes a much higher general domestic weight allowance.

Both checks can matter for a single product. A compact but heavy order can exceed the format’s weight limit. A light order can exceed its dimensions. A basket with an extra item can move into another format even though the individual products normally qualify. Store the measurements of the packed basket you sell, rather than treating the manufacturer’s product dimensions as shipping dimensions.

How should you test a basket before offering locker delivery?

Pack the real assortment with its normal protection, invoice insert and outer box. Weigh that complete package, measure its three sides and compare them with the selected booking format. Then check the recipient destination’s locker conditions. Avoid removing necessary padding to make a measurement pass: a box that arrives damaged has not become a successful shipment because it entered the locker network.

  1. Prepare the exact basket with the packaging you intend to use.
  2. Record the sealed package’s outer dimensions and full weight.
  3. Check the offered service format before selecting the pickup method.
  4. Confirm the destination locker type and a supported pickup location.
  5. Keep a home-delivery alternative for baskets that do not qualify.

Repeat the check when you change the box, add a bundle or introduce an item with different protection needs. Keep the result with the product or basket rule used by your shop. If a sender is packing locally, give them the approved packaging arrangement and ask them to pause an order whose contents differ. That prevents a helpful last-minute substitution from creating a label that no longer matches the finished parcel.

Does a Slovak locker label cost less than home delivery?

Not in the GLS rows captured here. Small-format pickup and home delivery are each €6.35; medium-format pickup and home delivery are each €7.19. The same domestic page lists small-format SPS home delivery at €5.44, which is €0.91 below the observed small GLS amount. These are comparisons of actual offered entries, not a claim about every Slovak carrier contract.

Choose a locker because the supported collection method suits the buyer, rather than promising a saving that the captured GLS entries do not show. A staffed point can suit someone who prefers human assistance; home delivery can suit a customer unable to collect. Confirm the network and location for a pickup order. If the checkout explicitly names GLS, a cheaper door service from another carrier is a different choice that needs to be presented clearly.

For a local small-format illustration, the quoted GLS amount plus the recommended preparation fee of €2.25 gives €8.60. The quoted amount already includes the €0.85 platform fee, so adding it again would overstate this subtotal. Use the actual sender fee for a real order; materials and moving stock into Slovakia still need their own budget.

Does the sender’s drop-off locker determine the customer’s locker?

No. The posting location and receiving location are separate parts of the route. Check where the purchased label can be handed over, and retain the customer’s chosen recipient point with the order. Do not use the address of a convenient locker as though it were an ordinary home-delivery address. A recipient method must be supported by the booked product, not inferred from a building or machine being nearby.

GLS provides a Slovak point and locker finder for checking locations. Confirm the selected point again if its availability changes before purchase. For shops placing stock locally, the Slovakia dispatch guide explains the stock arrangement. The domestic labels in this article apply to a real Slovak origin; they do not quote postage from the UK or another country.

How long does a customer have to collect a GLS locker parcel?

The March 2026 terms state four calendar days for a GLS locker, two calendar days for a third-party locker, and five working days for a GLS Parcel Shop. They also allow exceptional or seasonal shortening. Use the deadline in the customer’s actual notification. The difference between a staffed shop and a machine matters when explaining collection; do not describe every option with one generic pickup window.

Keep the recipient’s contact details accurate so the arrival message reaches them. A shop reminder should point to the carrier notification rather than calculate a fresh deadline from the order date. If collection fails, first follow the tracking record and operator instructions. Do not send a replacement merely because the buyer has not yet collected, while the original parcel is still available and could produce a duplicate delivery.

What if the parcel does not qualify for the selected locker service?

Pause the order and compare supported alternatives using the finished box. A different format, a staffed point or home delivery may resolve the problem, but obtain the actual booking conditions and amount before promising the change. If you can safely use a more compact box, measure again after repacking. Do not force the parcel into a compartment or relabel an oversized box as small without changing its measurements.

AirPost’s local fulfilment service lets you agree stock storage, packing and carrier handover with a sender near your customers. Make the locker check part of that agreement: who measures, who confirms the point, and who contacts the buyer when a basket no longer fits. General route pricing is covered in the Slovakia parcel cost guide. A cheap label is useful only when it matches the actual parcel and recipient method.

Frequently asked questions

Can I use GLS’s general weight limit for an AirPost locker booking?

Use the limits of the purchased service. The captured AirPost small and medium Slovak entries allow up to 5 kg and 10 kg respectively. A broader carrier allowance does not change either booking.

Will every GLS locker have space for the maximum-sized parcel?

A published maximum does not establish that an appropriate compartment is available. Confirm the actual location and accepted parcel, while observing the shipping format’s tighter conditions.

Is pickup cheaper than the GLS home-delivery option?

The captured domestic entries match within each format: €6.35 for small and €7.19 for medium, including the platform fee. Your sender’s preparation charge remains additional.

Are all Slovak GLS collection periods the same?

No. The dated terms distinguish GLS lockers, third-party lockers and staffed Parcel Shops. Follow the actual arrival notification, especially where seasonal changes apply.

Can I use these amounts for a parcel sent from the UK?

No. The snapshot is Slovakia-to-Slovakia. A UK shipment needs a separate international quote and its own customs arrangements. Stock held locally and an individual cross-border order are different routes.
