In short
- A 5 kg parcel to Germany from the Netherlands costs €9.83 in the 6 October 2026 snapshot, including platform costs and excluding packing. Domestic German dispatch starts at €5.55 for a regular small parcel. The table below compares 5 kg and 10 kg limits by origin and service; weigh and measure the packed box before choosing.
- The small example uses up to 5 kg and 35 × 25 × 15 cm; the medium example uses up to 10 kg and 45 × 35 × 30 cm. Carrier-specific locker limits can be smaller.
- Compare collection point, locker and home delivery separately. Prices and delivery estimates apply to the selected service, not every parcel on that route.
- For a shipment from Great Britain, check import costs and declarations separately from the label. Currency conversions on the rate card are approximate.
- For repeated orders from local stock, use shipping to Germany without a warehouse to plan storage and replenishment. Those are separate costs from this parcel-price comparison.
- AirPost is a peer-to-peer fulfilment network: online shops have their orders packed and dropped at a parcel point by verified people near their customers, who earn a fee per parcel from home. No warehouse, no minimum order volume.
The price of a parcel to Germany depends almost entirely on where it starts: the same box cost more than twice as much from Spain as from inside Germany. Below are the measured shipping rates to Germany from seven countries, the domestic German prices they compete with, and the two rules that apply whichever carrier you use.

Inside Germany the cheapest rate was the same at 2, 5 and 10 kg, which makes heavier parcels especially cheap to ship domestically.

Shipping to Germany from the UK: what changes
From United Kingdom, the 6 October snapshot showed ≈ £11.01 · Evri to the door for a small parcel and ≈ £11.11 · DPD to the door for a medium parcel. The GBP figures are approximate conversions shown by the rate card; import costs and declarations are separate from the label.
- Import VAT on every parcel. The EU removed the €22 exemption, so all imported goods are subject to VAT. For consignments up to €150 you can collect it at checkout and pay it through the Import One Stop Shop (IOSS); otherwise the customer pays it on delivery.
- Possibly a €3 customs duty per item type. Since 1 July 2026 the EU charges a temporary €3 duty on parcels worth up to €150 from outside the EU, per tariff classification in the parcel. Under the Commission’s guidance it applies to all IOSS imports; goods of UK preferential origin declared without IOSS can fall outside it.
- A customs declaration with every parcel.
The ways around those charges — IOSS, or stock already inside the EU — are compared in sell to the EU without customs charges.

What do German customers expect?
The door. Of the domestic services on our rate card for Germany, only UPS delivers to a pickup point; DPD, DHL and GLS are booked as home delivery. That makes home delivery the practical default for German orders, in contrast with France or Belgium. The comparison per country is in pickup point vs home delivery in Europe.
Two rules that apply whichever carrier you use
- Packaging register (LUCID). A shop abroad that ships packaged goods directly to consumers in Germany counts as the producer of its shipping packaging, whether it sits in another EU country or outside the EU. It must register with the LUCID Packaging Register and, if not established in Germany, appoint an authorised representative for its other packaging obligations.
- Heligoland and Büsingen. Both are German but outside the EU VAT area. Parcels there are not ordinary domestic or EU deliveries; decide in advance whether you ship to them.
VAT on German sales and the full route with German stock are covered in ship to Germany without a German warehouse.
What is the cheapest way to send a parcel to Germany?
- From the Benelux, use DPD to a pickup point. It was the cheapest service from both the Netherlands and Belgium.
- From further away, compare per lane. The cheapest carrier differed by origin: BRT/DPD from Italy, Chronopost from France, InPost from Spain, DPD from the UK.
- Ship from inside Germany. At €5.55 for a small parcel, a domestic DPD parcel was cheaper than any cross-border option.
These service prices include the €0.85 platform fee; packing by a sender is separate. For repeated orders from local stock, see shipping to Germany without a warehouse. Compare storage, replenishment and any tax administration in that setup rather than treating a domestic label as the whole fulfilment cost.
How that compares on other lanes, including the ones where it does not pay, is in domestic vs international shipping costs in Europe.
