In short
- Yes: a verified person in Denmark can hold a batch of your stock and post each order as a Danish domestic parcel. On 26 September 2026 a 2 kg parcel cost €5.60 inside Denmark, €12.45 from the Netherlands and €7.25 from Germany.
- Add about €3.10 per small parcel for packing and the platform fee. From the Netherlands that still saves money per order; from Germany it does not, and the case rests on transit, the pakkeshop and returns.
- Danish checkouts offer a pakkeshop or parcel locker next to home delivery. On our rate card the pickup option is the same price or cheaper than the door with every Danish carrier.
- Denmark is in the EU but uses the krone (DKK). UK shops face customs on every cross-border parcel; EU shops pass the €10,000 OSS threshold across all EU countries combined, and stock in Denmark usually needs a Danish VAT number.
- AirPost is a peer-to-peer fulfilment network: online shops have their orders packed and dropped at a parcel point by verified people near their customers, who earn a fee per parcel from home. No warehouse, no minimum order volume.
Denmark is a small market whose customers are used to choosing where their parcel goes. For a shop in the Netherlands, Germany or the UK it is often the first Nordic country to add, and the first place where the question "do we need stock there?" comes up.
This article gives the measured numbers first, then what they mean for a Dutch, German or British shop, and ends with the steps to test Danish stock with one box. At a handful of Danish orders a month, keep shipping cross-border.
What does a parcel to Denmark cost?
| Parcel | Carrier price | What it means |
|---|---|---|
| 2 kg inside Denmark | €5.60 | Label bought by a sender in Denmark |
| 5 kg inside Denmark | €5.60 | Same band as 2 kg on the cheapest service |
| 10 kg inside Denmark | €7.72 | Larger parcels stay domestic too |
| 2 kg from the Netherlands | €12.45 | Cross-border EU, no customs |
| 2 kg from Germany | €7.25 | Cross-border EU, a short hop |
These are the cheapest measured services per row, and they move. The live numbers for every country are in the European shipping rates index. The index does not measure parcels from the UK; a British shop pays an international rate plus the customs costs described below.
Cross-border or from Danish stock: the sum per order
Domestic from Danish stock costs the Danish label plus the sender’s fee and the platform fee — about €3.10 together for a small parcel. For a 2 kg order that is about €8.70, before the one bulk shipment that brings the stock to Denmark.
| Your shop is in | Cross-border, 2 kg | From Danish stock, 2 kg | Difference per order |
|---|---|---|---|
| The Netherlands | €12.45 | ± €8.70 | ± €3.75 cheaper from Denmark |
| Germany | €7.25 | ± €8.70 | ± €1.45 dearer from Denmark |
| The UK | International rate plus customs per parcel | ± €8.70 | Customs moves to one bulk import |
So the honest answer depends on where you ship from. A Dutch shop saves a few euros on every Danish order. A German shop pays slightly more per order and should only move stock for the other reasons below. A British shop swaps customs on every parcel for customs on one pallet or box.
Domestic stock only works where a domestic service exists at a price a shop will pay. Denmark is one of those countries; the full list is read from the live rate card:

Pakkeshop or home delivery in Denmark?
Danish customers are used to picking a pakkeshop — a service point in a supermarket or kiosk — or a parcel locker at checkout, with home delivery as the alternative. The prices on the AirPost rate card follow that habit: with Bring, PostNord and DAO the pickup service is cheaper than the door, and with GLS both cost the same.
That makes the pickup point the sensible default for Denmark, with home delivery as the option the customer can choose. A cross-border label from outside Denmark often offers a smaller choice of points, which is the Danish version of the French problem described in how to ship to France without a French warehouse. The general trade-off is in pickup point vs home delivery in Europe.
Which carriers ship domestically in Denmark?
- PostNord — Service Point or Home, from the Danish and Swedish postal group.
- GLS — ShopDelivery to a parcel shop or PrivateDelivery to the door.
- Bring — Pickup Parcel or Home Delivery Parcel.
- DAO — daoSHOP to a parcel shop or daoHOME to the door, both handed in at a drop-off point.
These are the Danish domestic services on AirPost’s shipping options today. Which ones your sender can use depends on the carriers they have ticked in their profile, so check that before you send stock.
How long does delivery take?
On 26 September 2026 the shipping options page listed GLS, Bring and PostNord at "within 2 working days" inside Denmark and DAO at "within 3 working days". Those are the carriers’ own indications, not a promise. A cross-border parcel adds the leg to Denmark and a hand-over between networks; from Germany that is short, from the Netherlands or the UK it is noticeable.
Returns from Danish customers
EU consumers can withdraw from an online purchase, so returns are part of the sum. Cross-border, a Danish return travels back to you at an international rate, or you refund and write the item off. From Danish stock, the return can go to your sender with a domestic label: senders on AirPost can switch on returns and set a price per return, and their profile shows a Returns badge.
When a return arrives, the sender reports it with photos in your shared chat. The parcel stays with them until you accept it and say what should happen — back into stock, or something else.
Kroner, not euros
Denmark is in the EU but not in the euro. Show Danish customers prices in kroner (DKK) at checkout; most shop systems do that per market. On the cost side nothing changes for you: AirPost shows Danish label prices converted at the ECB daily rate, and you pay in euros.
Customs and VAT
Shops in the UK
From the UK every parcel to Denmark is an import. The customer or you pay Danish VAT, the carrier charges a handling fee, and since July 2026 there is a €3 customs duty per product type in the parcel — explained in the €3 EU customs duty. IOSS lets you collect the VAT at checkout on consignments up to €150, but GOV.UK notes that a business in Great Britain must appoint an intermediary to use it. One bulk shipment into Danish stock replaces all of that per-parcel work with one import.
Shops in the EU
Cross-border sales to consumers in other EU countries can stay taxed in your own country until they pass €10,000 a year across all EU countries together. Above that you charge Danish VAT on Danish orders, usually reported through the One Stop Shop (OSS).
Stock in Denmark is a different case
Once your goods sit in Denmark, selling from that stock is a Danish domestic sale. That usually needs a Danish VAT registration with Skattestyrelsen, and OSS does not cover it. Arrange it with your accountant before the batch moves. Detail in VAT when you store stock in another EU country.
How this works with AirPost
Find a sender in Denmark
On /en/senders you see each sender’s carriers, measured shipping speed and reviews from other shops. Send a request; stock, orders and tracking then run through one conversation.
Send one box
Products and packaging, about a month of Danish orders of one product. The stock stays yours: ask for it back and it is returned within 14 days.
Connect your shop
Connect Shopify and pick Denmark, your carrier and pickup or home delivery. Paid Danish orders then go to your sender without you touching them.
Or offer an order to several senders
Send one order to all your Danish senders at once; whoever picks it up first ships it. The customer’s address appears only to the sender who picks it up.
The sender packs and drops it off
They buy the domestic label, drop the parcel at a pakkeshop or drop-off point, and the tracking number lands on the order in your shop.
Lost or damaged in transit
We file the claim with the carrier and pass the awarded amount on to you in full.
You pay per shipment: the label, the sender’s fee and a platform fee of €0.85. No storage fee, no subscription, no minimum. The full picture for shops is on local fulfilment in Europe.
When it is not worth it
- A few Danish orders a month: the bulk shipment and VAT registration cost more than they save.
- You ship from Germany and only care about the label price: cross-border is cheaper per order.
- A wide catalogue with a few sales per product: stock spread thin sits still.
- Tens of Danish orders a month of a few products, shipped from the Netherlands or the UK.
- Customers who ask for a specific pakkeshop, faster delivery or easy returns.
Weighing Denmark against other countries? How to ship domestically in Europe without a warehouse runs the same sum per country, and how to ship to Germany without a German warehouse covers the largest neighbouring market.
Frequently asked questions
Can I ship domestic parcels in Denmark without a Danish warehouse?
Yes. A verified individual in Denmark holds a batch of your stock at home and posts each order as a Danish domestic parcel. There is no building, so no storage fee and no minimum volume.
What does a 2 kg parcel inside Denmark cost?
On 26 September 2026 the cheapest measured service cost €5.60, carrier price only. From the Netherlands the same parcel cost €12.45 and from Germany €7.25.
Which carriers can a sender in Denmark use?
On AirPost today: PostNord, GLS, Bring and DAO, each with a pickup and a home-delivery service. Your sender’s profile shows which ones they use.
Do I need a Danish VAT number?
Not for cross-border sales below the €10,000 EU-wide threshold. Once you hold stock in Denmark, sales from it are Danish domestic sales and usually need a Danish VAT registration; OSS does not cover them.
Do I have to charge in Danish kroner?
Your customers expect prices in DKK. What you pay AirPost is in euros; Danish label prices are converted at the ECB daily rate.
